Why Mom is the Best

I want to wish the mothers in our lives a happy Mother’s Day, and dedicate this post to all the influential women that strengthen our Assets community. Of course, fathers are important too but on this day, we are reminded of John Steinbeck’s description of Ma, the matriarch of the Joad family in The Grapes of Wrath. Ma was, “the citadel of the family…..and seemed to know that if she swayed the family shook, and if she ever really deeply wavered or despaired the family would fall, the family will to function would be gone.”  Have there ever been truer words written about the power of mothers? Spooktacular Friday

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween weekend! Thanks to our Student Council, we certainly kicked the weekend off in style with a spooktacular series of events on Friday. Our campus was abuzz with excitement about the costume parade, pumpkin carving contest and scavenger hunt. There were even two haunted classrooms that students were able to walk through if they wanted. Continue reading

Spirit Week

What an exciting two weeks we just had on campus!  This week, we welcome parents and students to parent-teacher conferences, where we can get to know each other better and share our goals for our students and children. The week prior was Spirit Week, filled with fun activities, incredible outfits, creative accessories, campaign signs and slogans, and of course, bountiful amounts of school spirit.   Continue reading
